This crude and boring movie, ostensibly an updating of the 1976 comedy Car Wash, is a chilling ego-vanity vehicle for rappers Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg, the movie's executive producers and stars, playing two guys working down at the car wash. Dr Dre is a deeply wooden actor with the charisma of an Epson printer. ("I've done some acting before, and I kinda sucked at it. But I think I'm catching the knack," Dre recently told MTV. He's catching it pretty slowly.) And Snoop Dogg shows, as he did in John Singleton's recent Baby Boy, that he is one of the most charmless, humourless screen presences it is possible to imagine. Straight to Blockbuster, surely?
