"An album of Christmas classics - remixed by dance artists - called Merry Mixmas!" That pitch must have elicited enough of a "ho, ho, ho" from someone at Capitol to greenlight this rather pointless exercise.
The idea is similar to the one that saw Gene Kelly's Singing in the Rain filtered through a cod-Aphex Twin treatment to flog cars. Here, much-loved crooners and songbirds such as Bing Crosby, Nancy Wilson and Julie London get a nip-and-tuck from fading dance acts such as Bent and Q Burns Abstract Message.
The reinterpretations are quite faithful to the originals, with Bent adding some effective sparkle to Bing's Winter Wonderland. Elsewhere, MJ Cole tackles All I Want for Christmas (Is My Two Front Teeth) - though I'm sure the garage producer would rather find a chart hit and some self-respect in his stocking.
