Her Majesty and the Wolves: 111 – review

Cheap-sounding dance meets new-agey 'interludes' on a confounding collaboration, writes Hermione Hoby

Imagine the Black Eyed Peas but subtract the catchiness, and you'll have a good idea of what 111 sounds like. This is the first project from Kimberly Wyatt, sometime Pussycat Doll, and MC and producer Spencer Nezey, in which cheap-sounding dance numbers are interspersed, bizarrely, with new-agey "interludes". The most shameless Peas-pinching track, "Goodbye, Goodnight" (the words "we're having a good night" auto-tuned, chopped and repeated ad infinitum), bolsters the theory that the harder a song insists on how much fun is being had, the less fun it is to listen to.
