Let’s review – sheer eloquence from Adam Schroeder’s baritone sax

Adam Schroeder commands the attention on this beautiful quartet recording, writes Dave Gelly

One of the most beautiful baritone saxophone sounds to be heard today. Adam Schroeder's playing has all the natural gravitas that this instrument can command, coupled with the ease and mobility of a tenor and a clarity of line that is all his own. Using the simple quartet format of piano (Anthony Wilson), bass (John Clayton) and drums (Jeff Hamilton), he grips your attention by sheer eloquence. As Clint Eastwood reportedly told him: "I love the way you play that cannon!" No UK distributor, but available through the Capri Records website and the usual online retailers.
