Pop review: Tony Christie, Made in Sheffield

A beautifully crafted album with all songs written by Sheffield's best including Jarvis Cocker. Christie's voice soars throughout

This is no cheesy croonfest from the 'Is this the Way to Amarillo' singer, but a beautifully crafted album produced by Richard Hawley. All songs are written exclusively by Sheffield's finest, including Alex Turner and Jarvis Cocker, and Christie's voice soars throughout, Roy Orbison-style. 'Danger is a Woman in Love' could be a Bond classic, while Phil Oakey's 'Louise' has a trumpet solo to die for.
