I Am Arrows: Sun Comes up Again

Former Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows's new outfit have made a likable, acoustic-pop debut, says Ally Carnwath

There's a pub argument to be made that former drummers of bands fare better than lead guitarists: compare the output of Primal Scream or Foo Fighters with that of the Seahorses. I Am Arrows, fronted by ex-Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows, supply supporting evidence, roaming likably down a well-trodden path of Elliott Smith-indebted acoustic pop. Their debut is a record of gentle charms and easygoing sadness; tracks such as "No Wonder" and "So Long Ago" have a lolloping momentum and are devoid of the stadium-sized pretensions of Burrows's old band.
