Anti Atlas, Between Voices

Radiohead's manager grants chillout a new lease of life.

Chillout has produced precious few LPs of note since the dawn of the 21st century. On paper, too, the third album by Anti Atlas - Radiohead/Supergrass manager Chris Hufford and the classically trained composer Ned Bigham - is a distinctly underwhelming affair. Not only is Gemma Hayes the best-known guest star but Hufford's Thom Yorke duties dictated his working hours. None the less at its best Between Voices is superb: a lovely, meandering, wide-eyed work of wonder in which singers from every corner of the planet endow electronica with grandiosity.
