After being hailed as "Britain's greatest songwriter" in the music press and being feted by the Coral and Zutons, Shack's Michael Head must wonder what it takes to achieve success. On Noel Gallagher's label, the Liverpudlian band's fourth album probably won't top the charts yet Head's musical magic has never sounded as effortless. Opener Tie Me Down's brassy melody is so woozy it's a few plays before you realise the lyrics ("In that little cupboard there's some ties ...") are actually about, well, bondage. Every song tells a wild-eyed story and the tunes could convince historians that Love and the Byrds lived on the Wirral. Everyone will claim to love him when he's dead, so why wait?
