Good thing former Blue singer Simon Webbe landed a solo deal, or his legacy would have been a handful of Blue hits, augmented by a sheaf of tabloid kiss-and-tells. Sanctuary isn't the disappointment that ex-colleague Lee Ryan's solo excursion was, and the reason is evident here: Webbe was Blue's star voice (who knew?), and his distinctive warmth is as alluring on its own as it is when bolstered by three other voices. The summer hit Lay Your Hands opens proceedings, but is eclipsed by what follows. Webbe is paired with an overheated female on No Worries, but this time it's business, and their lusciously mingled voices are complemented by subtle strings. His primary talent is sounding heartfelt, no matter how trite the subject; he could soon be giving Seal a run for his money.
