Shape-shifting solo effort from Air synth twiddler

Jean-Benoit Dunckel - who is one half of French sonic enchanters Air - says his solo album sounds like 'me in a studio at night in Paris's 17th arrondissement'. Little would one suspect, strolling through one of Paris's less thrilling quartiers, that it would give rise to such ethereal, macabre pop music. On melody-heavy tracks such as 'Be My Friend', the synth lines thrillingly draw out a subtle darkness. If the naivity and high-pitched voice don't grate, chances are the shifting soundscapes will still leave you charmed.
