With a name like that, Bobby Kray should really be a gangsta rapper; in fact the 26-year-old is a white singer-songwriter from London. However, he has managed to hook up with reggae legends Dennis Bovell (who produces) and Eek-A-Mouse (who duets), and with their help he feeds reggae through soul, lover's rock and lover's rap. Imagine That demonstrates what Kray can do with just vocal and piano, while Bam Bam combines helium-high singing and sea-dredging bass. Best of all, a cover of Janet Kay's sublime hit Silly Games makes you believe a "skinny white boy" can sing like a British-born Jamaican woman.
