The trio of musicians who comprise Digitonal almost certainly do not intend their music to be relegated to the background, and would probably be most offended to be cast as such - but Save Your Light for Darker Days is an album that seems eminently suited to accompanying a book, a dinner or a hangover. It is beautiful, in a vague and non-specific way, and ebbs and flows its way past pleasantly. Digitonal have a light, understated touch, making their concoction of strings, percussion and electronic ornamentation usefully restorative. Very much atmosphere over action, but not necessarily a bad thing.
