Glee: The Music, Season 1, Volume 2

Feel no shame in indulging in the surprisingly good soundtrack, writes Katie Toms

Anyone who's been sucked into watching teen TV show Glee (guilty), will know there is something horribly compulsive about this naff morality tale featuring the wide-eyed all-singing, all-dancing choir of an American high school. Ditto the soundtrack. Allow yourself to embrace the slick, synthetic show tunes and some fantastic choral singing is revealed. Lennon's "Imagine" should be awful, Richie's "Endless Love" toe-curling, but thanks to the arrangements, uncluttered instrumentation and mostly brilliant voices they are surprisingly enjoyable.
