Some of the many musicians who will have mourned the passing of Mark Linkous, the American multi-instrumentalist, aka Sparklehorse, who killed himself earlier this year, are collected on this record. It's a wonderful rollcall of names, Iggy Pop, Julian Casablancas and Gruff Rhys among them, and an equally wonderful record: a heartsore and haunting collection of songs which are often, as with "Everytime I'm With you" ("Every time I'm with you/ I am drunk/ And you are too"), ruefully funny. After having been leaked last year, this official release now serves as a fine and apt tribute.
