Judith Bingham: Landscapes, Real and Imagined; Yeree Suh (soprano); Chamber Domaine – review

The second release from Resonus, the entirely digital classical label, is a contemplative programme of Judith Bingham's chamber works, writes Stephen Pritchard

After its acclaimed debut in March with a vibrant Mendelssohn Octet, Resonus, the first entirely digital classical label, has now turned to a more varied, contemplative programme for its second release with chamber works by the versatile Judith Bingham, performed by the instrumentalists of Chamber Domaine with the remarkable Korean soprano, Yeree Suh. Suh sings the stand-out track on this collection, "The Cathedral of Trees", a sinuous, virtuosic setting of words by David Lyons for solo voice, and also features in "My Father's Arms", Bingham's song cycle drawn from Martin Shaw's poetic, poignant and emotional meditation on the impact of war on children.
