Stacey Kent: Dreamer in Concert – review

Stacey Kent's first live recording is a delight, writes Dave Gelly

The range of Stacey Kent's repertoire continues to grow. She has now added Portuguese to her English and French, and occasionally accompanies herself on guitar. Needless to say this is all achieved with fetching simplicity and aplomb. She also has a terrific little band, led by her husband, Jim Tomlinson, who just happens to be a great saxophonist and arranger. This is a live recording (her first, actually) and you can feel the authentic buzz of four good musicians working together. All 13 tracks are excellent, but "If I Were A Bell" is a real steamer.
