Feeder: Generation Freakshow – review

Feeder's latest offering is solid but uninspiring fare, unlikely to satisfy anyone other than their fans, writes Phil Mongredien

Perennial bridesmaids Welsh-Japanese outfit Feeder have notched up seven Top 10 albums since 1999 without ever looking like being invited to rock's top table. Their eighth studio album, and second on their own label, is another solid, if uninspiring, set, split evenly between the sort of stadium-friendly fare peddled by their peers Snow Patrol and the harder sound characterised by their earlier, grunge-lite albums. They're at their best on the rudimentary thrashing of "Headstrong" and the Oasis-influenced ballad "Children of the Sun". The likes of "Tiny Minds" and "Idaho" are sub-Foo Fighters filler, however, and unlikely to appeal far beyond their existing fanbase.
